About Carla Wilson Biography Carla Wilson grew up in Southern California, and lived a short time in the midwest before returning to the west coast where she resides today with her family. “In California we have the Pacific ocean with its vast coastline, miles of beaches, towering cliffs, rocky outcrops, green iceplant, beige sand, magenta bougainvillea, violet jacarandas and fuchsia-flowering succulents. I keep my palette as close to these colors as possible.” “I like painting for its physicality and color, and writing because I love words. Together I create my expression.” “Around 2012, I began creating digital artworks using my iPad. I took photos on my walks which provided the inspiration to look closely.” “In 2020 during the pandemic, I began to learn to paint with acrylic inks and fluid acrylics. I love to paint on paper, wood panel, and canvas, and I adore making collages as it reminds me that we deconstruct before becoming whole again. My paintings are an expression in response to the chaos and uncertainty in the world.” education Wilson studied at San Diego State University (2009-2013), earning an MFA in Fiction, and at the University of California, San Diego (1992-1995) where she received a BA in Communication Studies.
